Every mission needs moments of reflection — times when we pause to ask whether our words truly match our work.

Over the past year, Plymouth Housing did just that. Through conversations with residents, staff, partners, and board members, a shared vision emerged: a desire for language that more clearly expresses who we are, what we believe, and the community we’re building together. Today, we’re proud to share our refreshed mission statement:

Plymouth Housing provides homes, healing, and hope, so that our neighbors who have experienced chronic homelessness can thrive.

Through 18 buildings in King County, Plymouth provides permanent homes to nearly 1,500 single adults who have experienced long-term (or chronic) homelessness — the largest group experiencing homelessness locally and nationally. Our new mission doesn’t signal a change in direction. Instead, it captures the heart of our work in a way that is:

  • Clear — easy for anyone to understand
  • Memorable — simple to repeat, share, and carry forward
  • Human — rooted in dignity, belonging, and possibility

We’ve always believed that permanent supportive housing is not only about four walls. It’s about rebuilding the foundations of life — connection, stability, and hope.

Guiding our next chapter

This updated mission also aligns with our newly adopted strategic plan, which charts Plymouth’s path for the next several years. The plan focuses on strengthening resident support, investing in staff and operations, and ensuring our housing remains strong for decades to come. Read more about our 2026-2028 strategic plan.

Across our community, people are searching for solutions that work. Permanent supportive housing remains one of them. This mission is our pledge to continue delivering it with compassion, rigor, and unwavering belief in the resilience of our residents.

Thank you for being part of this work, whether you donate, volunteer, advocate, or simply share our story. Together, we can create a region where everyone has a home — and the chance to thrive.
