MLK Day of Caring volunteers give the Gatewood community room a fresh coat of paint.

April 21-27 is National Volunteer Week, and for Plymouth it is the perfect time to take stock of and appreciate how much volunteers do all year! 2013 has gotten off to a great start with the following volunteer events:

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Caring – 32 volunteers worked on a variety of projects, including making pillows for the new residents at the Williams Apartments, painting the community room walls of the historic Gatewood, serving a meal at the Simons Senior Apartments, and cleaning up the garden courtyard of the Pacific Apartments.

Pat Williams Apartments – 18 volunteers created Welcome Baskets and set up all 81 units with essential household supplies.

Black History Month – 10 volunteers prepared and served a soul food dinner for residents at the Simons Senior Apartments.

Seattle Dances! – 95 volunteers supported the annual gala fundraiser in many ways such as greeting guests, coordinating the live and silent auctions, selling raffle tickets, and dancing in a Flash Mob!

Springtime Paint Jobs – 25 volunteers rolled up their sleeves and rolled on fresh paint in the historic Haddon Hall and St. Charles Apartments. Residents love the new look in their buildings!

We also want to say a special Thank You to our long-term volunteers who show up weekly and monthly to serve meals, visit with residents, and sort donations in our Essential Supply Center. Thank you for all you do!
