Help more neighbors find stability and support

George’s Plymouth apartment is full of things he cherishes, from bicycles to a family keepsake

A few years ago, George L. didn’t have a place he could truly call home.

Chronic pain and health challenges made it difficult to maintain steady employment. After a serious fall led to months in the hospital, George found himself facing an uncertain future. Then he was offered an apartment at a Plymouth building on First Hill.

At Plymouth, long-term housing is paired with supportive services designed to help residents achieve stability, improve their health, and pursue their goals. For George, that stable foundation made all the difference.

When he arrived at Plymouth, George could barely walk. With a safe place to live, physical therapy provided on-site, and determination to recover, he gradually rebuilt his life.

Today, his apartment is filled with the things that matter most to him: bicycles he rides and repairs, woodworking projects that become gifts, treasured family keepsakes, and room to simply live life on his own terms. He also spends his time giving back, volunteering at a local food bank and helping others whenever he can.

“They gave me a hand up when I needed it so I can give people a hand up if they need it,” George said of Plymouth.

George’s story shows what’s possible when affordable housing and supportive services come together.
