Just as Plymouth Housing helps people in our community overcome systemic inequities and find a place where they belong, we are equally committed to embodying these ideals in our own workplace. In July, Plymouth hired two new additions to the team who will enhance our organization’s commitment to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where employees are empowered to thrive.
Plymouth is pleased to welcome Kurt Jun, vice president of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), and Mike Andersen, DEIB manager.
Kurt was previously director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Portland General Electric in Portland, Oregon. With a career spanning public education systems, the health care industry, government, and faith organizations, he brings more than 30 years of experience in the DEI field and has volunteered for 15 years as a mentor for people navigating homelessness and substance use disorder.
“My journey has always been driven by a deep belief in the power of inclusion and justice to transform lives, organizations, and communities,” said Kurt, who is looking forward to collaborating with staff to ensure that everyone at the organization feels valued, respected, and given the tools to thrive.
“Kurt’s dedication and passion for equity and anti-racism align seamlessly with Plymouth’s vision of a day when every person has a home and a better quality of life,” said Karen Lee, CEO at Plymouth Housing. “Kurt’s team will be instrumental in embedding DEIB within the fabric of our organization to ensure that our strategic initiatives advance equity across the board.”
Mike Andersen, DEIB manager, comes to Plymouth from Shoreline Public Schools, where he served as a fourth-grade teacher, equity lead, and the equity chair on his union’s executive board. Mike brings a deep commitment to fostering inclusive environments where every individual feels valued and empowered.
Thank you for joining us in welcoming Kurt and Mike to the Plymouth community!
