Today, on Día de los Muertos, Plymouth Housing Case Manager Solie invited residents to celebrate life with a warm lunch and community activities while remembering those we have lost. Solie says, “I am happy to celebrate my cultural traditions and share its meaning with our tenants.”
We also remember those who died while experiencing homelessness. Each year, the toll of homelessness claims more lives. Recent news reports indicate that 100 people have died while experiencing homelessness in King County so far this year. Every week, WHEEL’s Women in Black stand vigil for those who have passed, and on November 8, St. James Cathedral will hold a Mass for the Deceased Homeless.
We value the lives of everyone in our community. As we honor the memories of those who have passed, we also celebrate the gifts and experiences they gave to us in life.
