Story by Kristin Benson, Housing Case Manager, Plymouth Housing Group.

Plymouth Housing Group recognizes that a sense of community is a valuable resource. We work to build a sense of community in our buildings in several ways, providing support that will help our tenants continue their journey and improve their health and well-being.

One of these ways is by spending time together getting out of downtown on journeys around our beautiful area. We went to Carkeek Park a few days ago, and a few months ago we went to Deception Pass via a ferry to Whidbey Island.

We’ve been to the Chihuly Glass Museum and MOHAI together, and a group of us took a bus to the zoo over the summer. We also go grocery shopping and run errands together.

The relationships and learning opportunities these kinds of everyday experiences can build are incredible. The bond of community helps to ease the difficulty of hard times and to enhance the joy of good times.

I see people helping each other all the time: working together, connected, and improving their lives together. We support and learn from each other.
