Project Context
In 2020, more than 1,000 people experienced homelessness on a given night the Eastside. Fully addressing homelessness in our region requires a multifaceted solution, since people experiencing homelessness have a wide array of needs. Some people need an affordable apartment to prevent them from falling into homelessness in the first place. Others may require a short shelter stay and help searching for a job. The people Plymouth serves live with disabilities and need a permanent home that provides more services than a typical apartment building in order to stay housed and thrive.
In recognition of this need for a multifaceted solution, Plymouth is part of an innovative partnership with Congregations for the Homeless and Inland Group. Together, we’ll form a campus with a range of homelessness services and affordable housing options. In addition to our 92-apartment permanent supportive housing building, CFH will open a 100-bed men’s shelter and Inland will provide 353 units of workforce housing. Each part of the campus addresses homelessness in specialized and complementary ways.
Construction on Eastgate Permanent Supportive Housing is slated to begin in fall 2021. We expect construction be completed by winter 2023.
