While this is a challenging time for everyone in our region, Plymouth’s residents are especially vulnerable to the COVID-19 outbreak. Homelessness has life-long impacts on an individual’s health, making them more susceptible to developing severe illness.
Keeping our staff and residents safe is our highest priority. Thankfully, there are no known cases of COVID-19 in our buildings at this time. We have taken steps to prevent the spread of the virus, including those recommended by public health agencies. We will continue to monitor the situation and refine our safety protocol accordingly.
Here are some measures we’ve taken so far: providing health care screenings in our buildings in coordination with our nursing partners; asking administrative staff to work from home in order to minimize the spread of the virus; compiling additional food and cleaning supplies for residents; frequently disinfecting high-touch surfaces; and converting our annual Seattle Dances fundraiser into an online event.
Seattle is so resilient. We’ll get through this together. But we also need to remember that viruses don’t discriminate; please stand up against misinformation and stigma.
