Plymouth’s 8th annual “Key to Hope” Luncheon is now less than two months away. We have already registered more than 1,000 guests, and brought in significant corporate sponsorship to support this event, but need to announce an important last minute change in our program.
Unfortunately, Joseph Kennedy II has cancelled due to unforeseeable business developments which now preclude his joining us at the luncheon as our Keynote Speaker.
The good news, however, is that we are able to bring another dynamic personality: Oscar-winning actor and social activist, Richard Dreyfuss.
From Jaws to Close Encounters of the Third Kind to Mr. Holland’s Opus, Richard Dreyfuss has always been one of our most versatile and charismatic actors. Dreyfuss has taught at Oxford, studied a wide range of subjects from history to politics, and is a driving force in the movement to bring civics back into the classrooms as well as creating a knowledgeable and engaged citizenry in America.
A man who doesn’t accept the world as it is, Dreyfuss declares, “there are many causes worth fighting for.” At the top of his list is the acute need for revitalizing the true meaning of civics and to make it exciting and relevant again. With a vigorous passion, he encourages the public to engage in the basic principles of democracy, become informed on the issues, and be willing to speak out and engage in robust debate about current affairs. As a student of history, he shares his excitement about what it really means to be an American, where we came from, and where we are going as a nation.
We are excited to welcome Mr. Dreyfuss to Seattle and look forward to an exciting, and engaging, luncheon address on Friday, September 30.
There is still plenty of room to register for this event! If you have any questions, please call Mary Ann Lambert at 206-374-9409 or email mlambert@plymouthhousing.org.
