King County voters recently received a ballot in the mail for the upcoming August primary elections. Included on the ballot is a vote on Proposition 1, the renewal of King County’s Veterans and Human Services Levy. Please approve Proposition 1.
Renewal of the levy is necessary for our community because it provides much-needed funds to support veterans in need, improve community mental health services, strengthen families and provide assistance for homeless adults such as the ones Plymouth Housing Group serves. Half of the funds the levy raises will help Veterans, who now comprise 13% of Plymouth’s residents.
In the last 6 years, the array of housing and human services that the levy has funded for low-income families and individuals has been effective. Overall the levy has provided new housing, funded mental health programs and has significantly helped lower costs for medical and emergency care services.
An Approve vote will renew the levy for another six years, and the rate will be the same as the previously passed levy. This is not a raise in taxes. If approved, the average cost per household would remain about $20 per year.
Please approve Proposition 1 on your ballot, and mail by August 16. Visit the King County website for more information. Thank you!
