Plymouth’s newest construction project receives vital Seattle city funding.
We are pleased to report that the City of Seattle Office of Housing has awarded Plymouth Housing Group $2.23 million in funding for our newest construction project.
The Pontius Apartments, a new Plymouth sustainably-built apartment building due to open in 2013, will be located in the Cascade/South Lake Union neighborhood on Pontius Ave. North, between John and Thomas streets. The building will provide 81 studio apartments for chronically- homeless people, plus three units for live-in resident managers.
The Pontius Apartments will serve people with a history of long-term homelessness who have faced major obstacles to housing, including chemical dependency and alcoholism. “We are excited to have a new project on the drawing board,” commented Plymouth Executive Director Paul Lambros. “We are not only going build 81 new homes, but we’re hoping to receive LEED certification as well. One of Plymouth’s key goals is to build low-income residences that are attractive, sustainable and an asset to our community.”
