AGENCY OVERVIEW
Plymouth Housing Group (PHG) is a non-profit organization with 125 + employees and an annual budget of $12 million. Its mission is “to eliminate homelessness and stabilize homeless and very-low-income people in housing by preserving, developing, and operating safe, decent, affordable housing, and by providing opportunities for homeless and very-low-income people to improve their lives.” PHG owns and manages 12 buildings in downtown Seattle that provide 900 units of low income housing, including 700 units of permanent supportive housing for individuals coming from homelessness.
JOB SUMMARY
The Tenant Support Aide will work within a collaborative building team in order to assess and respond to the personal care and home maintenance needs of tenants impacted by mental health, substance use, and physical disability. This position will work to support housing and health stability for vulnerable tenants underserved by existing funded chore and care services due to primary disability of mental health and substance use. This position will provide hands-on coaching and personal care to promote health, hygiene, and personal dignity.
The Tenanct Support Aide maintains service-delivery based on the values inherent in Plymouth’s mission, the principles of cultural proficiency and anti-racism, the tenets of harm reduction, and the ‘housing first’ philosophy
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
(Any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience)
Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: Two (2) years experience working as a caregiver, preferably with low-income, homeless, and special needs clients.
Training: Completion of Fundamentals of Caregiving (or equivalent) training program, either prior to hire or within first two (2) months of employment.
Licensure/Certification: Valid Washington State Driver License.
Other Qualifications:
- Able to communicate effectively with staff members and tenants.
- Able to work cooperatively in partnership with community agencies and resources.
- Good knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to be flexible, supportive and to work cooperatively with staff as a member of a multi-disciplinary and diverse team.
- Available to work a 40-hour work week, including one weeknight late shift (11:30am-8pm) and willingness to work Thanksgiving Day morning. For all building openings, must be available to work one (1) weekend day for up to one year after opening.
- Proficient and experienced with Microsoft Office applications; particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must demonstrate strict attention to detail.
- Employment history that demonstrates reliability and dependability.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
